Which is the best parenting approach?

i don't think one kind of parenting produces "better persons".
so approaches are neither good nor bad. For different people different approaches are less or more effective.
Hence, my first question to parents is WHAT IS YOUR OBJECTIVE AS A PARENT?
Once, i as a parent - i know what are my objectives - both for me and the child - then i can figure out which is the best way. My observation is that most parents today are confused what is their objective as a parent!!!
What is yours?

Comments:
My sister forwarded me an article written by you about a year ago when I was having a difficult time dealing with my then 9 year old daughter. The disagreements still happen. This is the first time I am checking your website out and I am amazed at the wealth of information in it to help me grow as a parent. "My objective as a parent" has left me speechless. This is something that I need to be asking myself daily and I am sure I will find the correct path to nurture my kids. The short term objective in this highly competitive world is to ensure they shine as good academicians by having good understanding of basic concepts but the long term goal is to survive happily with a healthy attitute towards life leading an honest life.
